The Abomination is a fictional character, a supervillain that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appears in Tales to Astonish #90 (April 1967), and was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Gil Kane. Debuting in the Silver Age of Comic Books, the character of the Abomination has featured in other Marvel-endorsed products such as arcade and video games, animated television series, merchandise such as action figures and trading cards, and the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. The product of gamma exposure greater than that which created the Incredible Hulk, Soviet spy Emil Blonsky's transformation into the vile, reptilian Abomination is a permanent condition, preventing him from ever regaining human form. Blonsky, however, retains his intellect despite his transformation, and posesses strength that is initially stronger than that of the Hulk, although he lacks the Green Golath's ability of rage-proportionate strength. Self-loathing at what he has become and continual defeats at the hands of the Hulk fuel the monster's unreasoning hatred, and he continues to seek to destroy his emerald adversary by any means necessary!
